To Kill a Mockingbird Clip/News

Next week I will have a giveaway of the 50th Anniversary Edition Blu-Ray of To Kill a Mockingbird!! In celebration/anticipation of that, here is a clip from the movie:

Atticus' Closing Statement Clip
(the Google Docs link as I had that uploaded before ThinkJam was lovely and sent me an embed code)

and the embedded clip (same clip):

Movie synopsis:
Atticus Finch, a lawyer in the Depression-era South, defends a black man against an undeserved rape charge, and his kids against prejudice. (from IMDb)

and the book synopsis
The unforgettable novel of a childhood in a sleepy Southern town and the crisis of conscience that rocked it, To Kill A Mockingbird became both an instant bestseller and a critical success when it was first published in 1960. It went on to win the Pulitzer Prize in 1961 and was later made into an Academy Award-winning film, also a classic.

Compassionate, dramatic, and deeply moving, To Kill A Mockingbird takes readers to the roots of human behavior - to innocence and experience, kindness and cruelty, love and hatred, humor and pathos. Now with over 18 million copies in print and translated into forty languages, this regional story by a young Alabama woman claims universal appeal. Harper Lee always considered her book to be a simple love story. Today it is regarded as a masterpiece of American literature.(from Goodreads)

The book is one of those absolute classics that hopefully you have read in school - or if somehow you did not, you need to read it on your own. It's one of the books everyone really needs to read at some point in their life (and hopefully will love!).

And then you need to see the film. Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch is one of those roles -and characters - that you just don't forget (as evident in the clip, which, oh I hope you can see!).

Even if you have the DVD (or VHS), I hope you'll stop by next week and enter my giveaway - subscribe by email if you want to be sure not to miss it as I"m still deciding on the date for sure sure. (It won't be before the 20th, though.)

find info about the movie on IMDb or on Amazon; information about the book on Goodreads or on Amazon
.

Am I the only one who's thrilled this movie is getting the Blu-Ray, anniversary edition treatment?
